Dear colleagues, please consider including our EcoTypes initiative as part of your 2022-23 environmental courses. Launched in 2017, the Ecotypes survey has been completed over 8000 times, many by undergraduate students. 

Why is EcoTypes of value to your students? EcoTypes helps students appreciate that there are diverse ways of approaching environmental issues, analytically situate their own approach amidst others, and build concepts and skills to better communicate across difference. EcoTypes thus supports our AESS commitment to inclusivity via a novel, survey-based pedagogy.

What's new in EcoTypes for 2022-23? The main things include:
  1. A revised EcoTypes survey [pilot version here; feel free to try it out!]. The survey is completely anonymous and IRB approved; participants immediately receive a personalized report they can retrieve in future.
  2. A new EcoTypes COIL (collaborative online international learning) resource. In addition to extensive use in the U.S., a set of cross-national collaborators has joined our EcoTypes initiative in the last year. Our goal is for the COIL to enhance EcoTypes learning outcomes and promote conversation across regional and cross-national difference—and to make it easier for you to teach with EcoTypes!
Please feel free to be in touch with me via email, or simply fill out the information form and I'll make sure to respond. (Do note, as per instructor FAQs, that participating institutions optimally work with me to develop an institution code students select at the end of the survey; you can then receive your course's anonymized data if you wish as well.)

As a final note, I will be at next week's AESS Meeting in Baltimore, and though we will not host an EcoTypes workshop I will be available to consult with you on possible incorporation of EcoTypes in your courses.
