Dear all, happy August! I had promised to have the EcoTypes 2024-25 survey and followup form ready by the first of this month, but a nasty bout of food poisoning got in the way. I'm a bit better now, and can offer these updates:
- As you read here, there will be new EcoTypes effective this coming year. The page includes an extended background and rationale, a discussion of the three Knowledge subtypes and four main EcoTypes, and an application to 2023-24 survey data (n > 3300 at that time). I do not yet have updated documentation (esp. here—that URL will change when edited), and will get to it asap.
- The followup form (currently in draft) has been extensively edited to focus on an important EcoTypes consideration: "Many Care, Just Differently" (MCJD). The form "…gives you the opportunity to explore your results in more depth, and to apply them to “Many Care, Just Differently” (MCJD), an approach to the challenge of environmental difference and disagreement we see all around us." It includes 18 short-answer (25 word minimum) questions presented in a structured, page-by-page manner. Assuming students take 5 minutes per question, total form length is approximately 90 minutes.
As announced for the draft 2024-25 survey, these forms are temporarily available for your perusal on the EcoTypes menu under Survey > Survey Report FAQ.
I plan to test coding on the MCJD form, do documentation on new EcoTypes and Knowledge subtypes, and publish all within a few days.
I know that some instructors are using the 2023-24 EcoTypes survey and followup form just now; if you are using it, or plan to use it next week, please be in touch asap so that we might plan accordingly.
Thank you again, and be in touch as needed.
