Dear colleagues, some of you may remember that pre-2019-20, the EcoTypes site was replete with resources such as extended descriptions of each EcoTypes axis. What I heard, however, was that much of this information wasn't being read as an online resource, so the website was revised and condensed in places, including axes. You now can read a very brief summary of each axis and its two accompanying survey statements, but not much else, online.

Yet axes are literally the building blocks of EcoTypes: themes are derived from axes, and EcoTypes from themes. If our students can't appreciate the differences implied in the span of each axis, they may not appreciate these higher-order components as well.

The ultimate solution will be an EcoTypes book, but in the meantime I offer a rough draft of the portion of chapter 2, "I Beg to Differ!," devoted to axis summaries. Here is this draft, available as a read-only GoogleDoc so that your students can expand the outline at left and click on any axis of interest to go directly to that section. I welcome your input!: I will be updating this content in fall, adding references and ensuring that it's readable.

Each axis summary in the GoogleDoc is roughly 750-1000 words—woefully brief, considering the scope of each, but much more than you find on the EcoTypes site.

Do be in touch as needed, and thank you for your incorporation of EcoTypes as a learning tool.

Regards,

Jim P.
