Community as a Global Response II
12-16th Nov 2014 Adama, W.Galilee
More and more of us are beginning to perceive Community as a response to what is happening in the world today. Not only do we see the isolation of so many individuals within society but also the huge impact this isolation has on the Earth. We are offered warnings everyday – of climate change, hunger, drought, ‘natural catastrophes’, conflict between countries - so much so that we can feel disempowered to act.
Creating and living Community then becomes a political act, a global response to this disempowerment and a platform for change in how we act in relation to Planet Earth and ourselves.
This course will focus on the principles involved in Community building, examining our relation to Community and offering practices that support deepening in Community. It is intended for those actively wanting to create community where they live and work, beginners to the ideas of Community, and those particularly active in community organizations locally.
The course will include: study time, Council, service work, vision time alone in nature, a traditional Lakota Sweat Lodge ceremony, song and movement and the exploration of Shabbat - its meaning for individuals and communities.
