Dear Vanessa,
we already sent one seat (fiber glass) to Haiti from Peru, (I don´t know
to which organization right now), which unfortunately did not reach
Haiti until 1 month ago. We did a search and the last notice was
Venezuela, but we do not have any notice if the seat reached Haiti or
not. From our point of view and experience the insert in fiber glass is
the most "elegant", clean (because very easy to take out and wash it)
solution, well accepted as a "toilet" not as a latrine and easy to build
in. The bench style instead of the "throne" saves a lot of height and
costs and makes it easy to integrate the UDDT in small properties. Well
if you are interested in doing a second try...no problem. You can get an
impression at our page (www.peru.rotaria.net) there are as well
different construction manuals for download available.

Hi Chris, Richard and Christoph,
Thanks for your replies. I like the idea of simply painting the seat, thanks Richard. The area is only accessible on foot so the simpler and lighter the solution, the better - bringing cement in is hard enough.
I'll be working in the area for 2 years, if all goes to plan, so will certainly have the time to take the communities through the PHAST process and let them choose, or come up with, a solution most suitable for them.
Thanks again,
Vanessa
