Hi Chris,
look it up in message Message #3089.
The documents are in
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/ecosanres/files/JoJo%20dehydration%20toilet%20%20%20Files/
I remember that I saw videos as well at that time.
I don´t know it personally, I remember that I discussed it with Richard
and Elisabeth, they might have seen it personally. The idea at least
seems very nice. Although I remember a critic that in this case urine is
not separated ...but that is only a question of implementation.
To all, as the post is quite old....Are there newer experiences
concerning the company (success) as well as the principle?
To the EcosanRes people. I think this is a good proof of the usefullness
of the register of the old information.
Yours
Christoph
Dear Christoph,
Thank you for your message. That posting is very interesting, esp. with respect to the work in Auroville, India.
Hopefully others have experience to contribute on this issue.
Best wishes,
Chris

Hi,
I am not sure, but isn't that "Mobisan" public toilet which was being trialled in Cape Town by a Dutch project team also using an Archimedis screw? At least there was a mechanical device to move faeces along the length of the toilet block.
Personally, I am always sceptical with such devices - anything mechanical in a toilet is bound to break down sooner or later, isn't it (especially with lack of maintenance)? But I am happy to be proven wrong!
For the Mobisan toilet, just put into google "Mobisan Cape Town" and you will find several publications and newspaper articles. The first one being the MSc thesis of Aytor Naranjo (who once did the ecosan online course with me when I was still at UNESCO-IHE). Perhaps someone in this group is up to date with the progress of this pilot project?
Regards,
Elisabeth
P.S. Looking forward to meeting some of you at the SuSanA meeting and World Water Week in Stockholm week after next!
