Hi Everyone,

Has anyone had experience building UDDTs with a horizontal
Archimedes screw conveyor to move feces and cover material away from the user interface and into a container off to one side? (These may also be known of as "augers" and were used by Archimedes to raise irrigation water to higher channels.)

This could be powered with a bicycle pedal or (less ecologically) an electric motor.

This could also serve to more uniformly mix the feces into the dry cover material, thus reducing the potential for there being smelly anaerobic pockets in the mound.

The latest edition of the Ecological Sanitation book shows a screw conveyor in China for adding dry cover material.

All ideas, suggestions, photos, Youtube videos, etc. would be very welcome.

Best wishes,
Chris

Dear Detlef,

Thanks for sending me the link to this very good video.

Anyone else know of helical screw conveyors in UDDTs?

Best wishes,
Chris
