Saving Pikes Peak Forests from the Largest Logging Project in Colorado History

Let’s do our part to save the forests around Pikes Peak, Colorado.

You’re invited to a webinar this Wednesday to both learn and take action.

The Trump administration is proposing the largest logging project in Colorado history. We will meet via Zoom to talk about how and why to oppose this project.

RSVP: Webinar: Josh Schlossberg and Pikes Peak Logging. Wednesday, December 17 at 7:00 PM (Eastern Time)

We will be joined by Josh Schlossberg of Eco-Integrity Alliance

Dubbed the Pikes Peak Vegetation Management and Restoration Project, this project involves three endangered species, including the Mexican Spotted Owl, Preble’s meadow jumping mouse, and the lynx.

The US Forest Service says, “The project purpose is to restore sustainable forest conditions that are resilient to fire, insects, and diseases, while providing for diverse wildlife habitats, recreational opportunities and sustainable watershed conditions.”

We will learn why this is inconsistent with the best available science. For example, logging a forest is not the way to provide for “diverse wildlife habitats.” In addition, “fire, insects and diseases” are important to the natural cycles that help the forest stay resilient and adapt genetically to changing conditions.

You will receive everything you need to leave your comments on the official website. You can draft your own comments or you can copy and paste from a document we will provide you.
