Dear friends,
Mbilizi Kalombo — one of our ERA Africa members, leading the AYISD/Nakivale work in Uganda for nearly two years — is facing a family emergency. His wife has become critically ill: food poisoning escalated to aspiration pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). The care she needs is not available in Uganda, and the family is racing to transport her to a hospital in Kigali, Rwanda, that can treat her.
Diana Doheny has opened a GoFundMe: Help Mbilizi Save His Wife's Life. The goal is $8,000 — $4,000 prepayment for the Rwandan hospital to admit her, plus transport and 15 days of treatment. As of this meeting, roughly 10% of the way there. She is 24 years old; they have a one-year-old and a three-year-old.
Anything helps. Even more than giving: sharing the link widens the circle. A brief note, a Facebook share, a forward to someone who cares — all of it compounds. Diana has posted on her LinkedIn (she tagged several of us) and is reaching out to friends and family on Facebook. I matched her donation; I hope some of you will feel moved to do the same.
If you are inclined to pray, Mbilizi and his family would welcome that too.
Thank you for being the kind of community that shows up at a moment like this.
With gratitude,
Jon
