How do we help shape this conversation?

America’s philanthropies commit to accelerating community adaptation and resilience to climate change (moore.org)

This philanthropic leadership initiative is being led by the Kresge Foundation, Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, David and Lucile Packard Foundation, and Walton Family Foundation. These foundations have committed to the following four actions in the year ahead:

  1. Working with fellow donors, community organizations and other stakeholders to create a shared framework for climate resilience philanthropy that both complements and catalyzes public and private sector action
  2. Mobilizing new philanthropic commitments to address funding gaps and broaden the coalition working to strengthen climate resilience and adaptation,
  3. Strengthening the knowledge base and accelerating learning across the field,
  4. Strengthening communications, to make climate resilience and the way climate change is directly experienced easier to understand–and resilience more achievable.

That's a fabulous initiative. We don't have so much powerful philanthropy in Australia.

A couple of questions:

1. Who, specifically, is the lead of the initiative (committee chair, secretariat etc) so we have a point of contact?

2. What can we bring to the table to address their 4 actions? We have views, science, and I think a powerful offering would be who (organisations, scientists,) is actually in the ERA network and what is the potential network of the network.

So few of steps here:

1. Begin a formal documentation process of these networks, and

2. a process of systematically reaching out to ask our networks for further references.

3. Contacting all of these people, organisations, with an invitation to join a collaboration of ecosystem restoration specifically to represent a powerful cohort to this initiative.

cheers
