Preamble to Town Hall Meetings:

A note regarding the ERA’s membership process: Presentations on the agenda below are often about people and organizations that are being considered for membership in the ERA. Once someone has presented at a Town Hall meeting, any member may raise concerns or objections regarding their membership to Jon Schull (jsc...@EcoRestorationAlliance.org) or anyone else on the ERA board. If no concerns or objections are raised within a week of the presentation, the presenter is considered to be accepted as a member. If any concerns or objections are raised, the board will then consider the issues raised, and if needed, vote as to whether the entity will be accepted as a member.  More detail here.

Attendees:

Agenda:  Mangrove Extravaganza...and Cooling Climate Quickly!

Neal Spackman Longtime  ERA member Neal Spackman has finally obtained substantial funding for an Aquaforestry Project in Baja.  He'll tell us about the project and perhaps the secret of his fund-raising success (besides obvious perseverance and determiniation)

RAFT Co is a bioremediation and biotech company that intercepts high-nitrogen and high-phosphorous wastewater, and uses it to grow a constructed wetland / mangrove aquaforestry system that produces high-value goods.  This eliminates devastating pollution streams, harmful algae blooms, and dead zones in the ocean, enabling the rehabilitation and recovery of mangrove, seagrass, coral, and kelp ecosystems, while turning waste into significant value.  We are starting with nutrient-dense runoff from shrimp farms, but envision expanding to treating municipal wastewater & ag runoff.

Tapas Kumar Mollick  Bangladeshi Ambassador to the UNEP Green Earth Action Foundation program and founder of Mangroves4Life

will present on his youth-training and mangrove restoration projects
.

Andrew Dudley CEO of Earth PBC

Has a new system for combining satellite data from Planet.com with an easy-to use mobile-phone app for ground measurements, and for payments to those who do the work.   He will demonstrate the product and, in keeping with today's theme, focus on mangrove measurement, reporting and verification (MRV).

Jon Schull and collaborators (human and artificial) will introduce Cooling Climate Quickly (and the making of)

Building on our 2024 whitepaper, leveraging work by our community, and deploying new processes enabled by artificial intelligence,  this 5-week-old project is already gaining momentum with co-authors and allied organizations on multiple continents.  It's time to introduce it...and its contributors...to the ERA.  We need your input, and we need your support!
