Companion Dioceses
|
|
Pentecost Offering
Traditionally, the Diocese of Utah asks our churches to present the loose offering and any special gifts to our companion dioceses. They are the Diocese of Myitkyina in Myanmar and the Diocese of Mexico. The needs are many. In the upper right photo, Myikyina Bishop David Than Lwin stands with parishioners in front of a truck that was a gift from the Diocese of Utah. The truck is a primary form of transport in Myanmar and is used for a range of purposes from being a hearse to hauling animals.

Myanmar continues to struggle in poverty and under difficult conditions of restrictive rule. Additionally, the Diocese of Utah continues to support our good friends in the Diocese of Mexico. The Mexico City based diocese has benefited from the generous members of Utah churches in the repair of churches and support of the seminary.
Remember our friends this Pentecost, June 12th!

| Thirty-five new bishops met at the Lake Logan Episcopal Center in North Carolina |
Bishop attends College for Bishops "Living Our Vows" program.
(by Herbert Gunn, Communications Director, CREDO) Newly elected Bishops of the Episcopal Church started a three-year formation program to support their spiritual health and personal development. The Living our Vows (LOV) Residency provides opportunities to reflect on gifts, power and authority of the episcopate.
Our Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Scott B Hayashi was elected a year ago and is part of the program that offers monthly peer coaching and five-day residency. Bishop Hayashi says one of the main benefits is meeting with other new bishops.
He says, "I look forward to connecting with my fellow bishops and to learn more about my new role in order that I might serve the people of the Diocese of Utah as effective and faithfully as I can and as the Holy Spirit leads."
Bishop Hayashi completes the week-long session tomorrow.

The 50-day season ends June 12
As Easter season starts to wind down over the next two weeks, we are reminded that the glory of the resurrection lives on. You are invited to renew that glory by taking another look at the festive Easter Sunday Eucharist from St. Mark's Cathedral April 24, 2011. Click here to renew the joy of that day when the Rt. Rev. Scott B. Hayashi celebrated his first Easter as Bishop.
Additionally, it was the last time the old Cathedral organ sounded, as it is being replaced. The diocese is delighted to note over 200 people have viewed the service on the web. We will continue to post special services and messages after the Easter service. Additionally, special services including the Consecration of Bishop Hayashi, Christmas Eve, and Easter remain available on the diocesan video hub page. Episcopalians ponder discernment
