Summer School in Machine Learning with Python

Overview

In this course, we will begin with an introduction to Python programming, covering variables, lists, tuples, dictionaries, functions, and loops. Next, we will explore relevant Python libraries such as NumPy, Matplotlib, Pandas, Scikit-learn, and Scipy to analyze, manipulate, and visualize data. Following this, we will review key mathematical concepts needed for machine learning, including linear algebra and multivariable calculus, and demonstrate their use in optimization tasks using Python. We'll then review some probability concepts and see how to use simulation in economics. You'll learn numerical methods such as Newton Raphson and Gradient Descent to solve optimisation problems. We will then apply all of the above to perform machine learning tasks such as supervised learning (including linear regression, logistic regression, and neural networks) and unsupervised learning (clustering).

Learning Outcomes
  • You'll learn how to program in Python.
  • Use Python to solve interesting Linear Algebra, Calculus, Linear Programming, Assignment problems and Optimization problems.
  • Visualising probability distributions that are widely used in statistics and data science.
  • How to make good predictions and think conditionally.
  • Problem solving strategies.
  • Using Python to run simulations and solve probability and Economics problems.
  • You'll learn how to design experimental studies and collect and analyze data from those experiments.
  • You'll learn how to perform Machine Learning tasks such as Linear and Logistic Regression, Neural Networks and Clustering.
Grading Rubric

Your course score will be determined as the following weighted average:

  • Assignments (50%) : There are 5 homeworks in this course.
  • Final (50%)

If you score  50%, you'll get the certificate of completion.

I cannot promise the discount at the stage (I'll think about it and get back to you), but just like my other programs I can assure you that there is a lot of value in it which would mean good amount of consumer surplus (and eventually good amount of producer surplus in future, if you use this well). So it is a very good investment.
