Hi all,

Please find an interesting opportunity below:

*********************************

We are two Harvard PhD development economics students - M.R Sharan (formerly of DSE) and Siddharth George - working on papers in India and looking for a summer research associate (extendable beyond the summer by mutual agreement). The research associate (RA) is expected to work on two projects:
  1. A project rigorously quantifying the impact of political dynasts - the Rahul Gandhis and the Akhilesh Yadavs of the world -  on growth and development
  2. A project that brings Big Data to local politics titled "The role of caste, reservation and decentralized politics in Bihar's development story (2006-2016)".

On these projects, the RA is expected to both, collect and quantify information through (mostly) telephonic interviews and manage, clean and perform some preliminary analysis on Big datasets. To this end, the RA must possess good communication skills; a working knowledge of, and experience with, STATA is essential. Some knowledge of R would be an added bonus. The RA will be paid standard market rates (negotiable).

If interested, please write in to:
