Dear Camper,

BASECAMP Announce trekking at Chamarajnagar forest range on 22nd & 23rd Dec 07. Kindly forward this mail who may be keen to join.

Mystery Trails or Verappan Trails are the eco-treks through the deep jungles of Chamarajanagar range of forests. Chamarajanagar forests were closed for nearly two decades due to the overwhelming presence of notorious and legendary bandit – Veerappan, it is open for all to see and experience the mystery of these forests. It would be a revelation to know how the forest brigand lived in dense interiors of these forests. Also, you can see the harsh conditions, various hideouts and his escape routes... and so on. One of the primary aims in opening up of these never before seen routes to the public in general is to enable the local tribal community to earn out of their guidance expertise and thus make them tread the path of economic independence.

This is a 2-day trek: The day one trek starts from Bedaguli to Jodigere a 9 kms route passing through the wet deciduous and sola forest to halt at the anti-poaching camp. The day two we will travel towards Triple point. This point is a cairran made on the ridgeline dividing the three forest divisions of Chamarajanagar, Kollegal and Sathyamangalam. From here a valley is crossed and you reach Bettadahalla. Walking all along the border of Karnataka and Tamilnadu one will see one of the most beautiful and rich forests in the world. You will reach Bylore after walking for 13 kms from Jodigere.
