Dear GLCA Economists,

We are looking forward to seeing those of you that confirmed participation for EconEdTech II on Thursday 31st July-Saturday Aug 2nd, 2014. This email contains a draft agenda and some important information that you will need for your arrival. Please save a copy of it for your records. We are going to try to remain paperless for our meeting.

Arrival information
Please be on time. There is construction on major freeways driving in so please plan ahead. We would like to begin promptly at 10am on Thursday. All sessions will be held in the 2nd floor Vendome Boardroom at the Westin Columbus, 310 South High Street. As you enter the hotel, the elevator to the second floor is on your left. Here is a plan of the hotel.

Parking
The hotel has parking that can be charged to your room. Please see this link  for directions and parking. If you are not using hotel parking, there are public parking options nearby that are supposedly less expensive if you arrive early enough. ConsiderCentral Parking, 226 S Front St, Columbus, OH 43215 OR COTA Parking Garage on East Main Street. If you are choosing not to use hotel parking, please keep your receipts. If you are commuting, please keep your receipts as well.

Check in
We will not be able to check in when we arrive at 10am on Thursday. Please leave your bags with the bell-hop or bring them with you to the Vendome Room. We will check into our rooms after lunch. Currently only one of you is commuting. If you have not gotten back to me regarding the days you need rooms, please let Amyaz know ASAP.

Reimbursements
We will share reimbursement forms with you under separate cover. Please keep your receipts to be reimbursed for transportation and food. The transportation, hotel room, parking, and meals from Thursday 10am to Sat 4pm are covered by GLCA. The hotel will most likely take your credit card for incidental expenses above and beyond these expenses. Wifi is included in the room expense.

What to bring
At minimum please bring your laptop. If you have a tablet, styli, smartpen, smartphone, chargers and dongles to connect these hardware to projectors, cameras and laptops , please bring those too. If there are apps you would like to share and try, please download them before you come so we can save time. Also, please do not forget to do the readings before you come. Finally, the weather forecast says “Chance of rain” and the evenings have been a bit cool. Please come prepared. Weather permitting, we will walk or cab to dinner in nearby German Village. If you need to workout, the hotel does have a fitness center and offers running routes.

If you have any questions or we have missed some detail please feel to contact Amyaz or Raja by email.

See you soon!
