Dear all,

You're very warmly invited to join the Environmental Peacebuilding Association's Arts Initiative for a series of co-learning sessions about the intersections between environmental peacebuilding, climate justice, and ecological education - and how music can be a tool and partner in related activism.

Each session will include informal teaching, art sharing, and collaborative brainstorming. We are holding dialogues to a diverse schedule, hoping to engage musicians from time zones around the world.
  • Wednesday, 2 July, 1-2pm Eastern (register here)
  • Tuesday, 5 August, 3-4pm Eastern (register here)
  • Monday, 1 September, 10-11pm Eastern (register here)
  • Wednesday, 1 October, 12noon-1pm Eastern (register here)
  • Tuesday, 4 November, 5-6am Eastern (register here)
No prior knowledge is necessary, participants can join for just one session or the entire series, and there is no expectation of follow-up: Please jump in whenever you can to meet like-minded artists, scholars, and practitioners.

Wednesday, 2 July's dialogue:
The inaugural session of the "Peace Notes" series will feature a focus on the ocean. We will explore issues concerning maritime environmental peacebuilding, including the Law of the Sea, controversies over deep sea minerals and mining practices, conflict-related ecological damage, and opportunities for International peace and cooperation such as the Global Ocean Treaty. Artistically, we will highlight the role of sound in underwater ecosystems, environmental education through ocean-related music-making projects, and the use of creative practice for improving land-ocean relations. Join us to learn, share, and hear some maritime music!

I hope to see you online - and if you have a particular theme you'd like this series to engage, do be in touch! :)
