Hear about two IUSE:ESL (Engaged Student Learning) projects that are actively using data science to support the goals of and uplift their learning environments.

Dr. Esther Wilder will present the Data Analysis Research Experience (DARE) Project and underscore the project’s mission to support students through improved quantitative skills and student-centered pedagogy. Dr. Wilder will also provide demonstrations of effective instructional methods for integrating quantitative reasoning into various disciplines, leaving attendees with practical strategies for engaging students and enhancing their critical thinking skills.

Dr. Michael Schuckers will follow by introducing the Sports Content for Outreach, research and education (SCORE) Network. A collaboration between academic and industry practitioners, the SCORE Network aims to generate open access, peer-vetted, case based educational materials using sports data for statistics and data science classes. Beyond informing attendees on how they can utilize the SCORE Network in their own classrooms, Dr. Schuckers will outline the pedagogical material generation framework used by the network.
