Hi all,

I'm planning for my fall Ecology course, and thinking about doing a class project that works on improving an Ecology OER textbook (to then be iteratively implemented as a class project across future course offerings too!).

I've been working with our OER librarian to find an existing Ecology OER textbook that we could then adapt to our class, but am struggling to find one! I poked around the ESA website, LibreTexts, and some other online repositories but didn't find anything.

I thought that you all might have ideas of someone who might have written or be currently working on an OER Ecology textbook.

Thanks,

Erin

Here is one (full disclosure: I haven't vetted it yet, but it's on my list do): https://www.softchalkcloud.com/lesson/serve/2dhXu6Zsja1V5p/html

I had this same issue about 4 years ago when I converted our intro to ecology course to oer.  It will be nice to see what's been added since then.  I couldn't find a full text at that point, so I combined pieces from several open stax texts and other articles.  Everything is available at https://sites.google.com/view/env10031004/home.  I also have instructor resources (test banks,  slides with notes, etc) if they are useful to you.

Hi Erin and all!

While it's not an OER textbook, CourseSource has a lot of Lesson articles in Ecology. It's not only a great place for teaching resources, but also a place to publish amazing activities that you have created (as Erin already knows!)!

With care,
Erin
