Participate in this year’s City Nature Challenge by observing wildlife, taking photos, and sharing them on iNaturalist this Friday, April 24th through Monday, April 27th. Help us show the biodiversity of our state to the world, and provide valuable data to scientists!

Join one of three participating New Mexico city areas, and check out the in-person public events happening in each project’s event journal post on the right side of the pages.

It’s easy to participate:

  1. Set up an account at iNaturalist.org or in the iNaturalist  app.
  2. Take and submit your photos (and sounds) of animals and their signs (tracks, scat, feathers, etc.), plants, and fungi that you find during the challenge.
  3. Help identify others’ observations, and have iNaturalist and its community help you, thru May 10th.

Educators, check out the City Nature Challenge Education Toolkit for activities designed for students of all ages, aligned to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).

City Nature Challenge is an annual global collaborative effort to find and document wildlife observations in and around urban areas, organized by the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and California Academy of Sciences. Learn more at citynaturechallenge.org.

The City Nature Challenge ABQ informational flyer, and organizer & partner logo page, is attached to this email. Feel free to share online and print. Get your friends, family, and coworkers involved!
