Dear EcoEd Community,

Please see the message below from Lauren Click:

Hi there!

My name is Lauren, I am the Founder of Let's Go Compost, a national nonprofit focused on soil science education through hands-on STEM learning! We currently work with 250+ public schools and youth programs across 29 states.

I am reaching out to environmental education groups as Let’s Go Compost is providing free indoor worm composting farm kits to 100 public schools in the United States for leading up to Earth Month 2026! We are really hoping to reach every state, so I wanted to reach out to your group in case you are able to share it with any interested schools. We are able to support public schools (charters included) in all 50 states at this time. For home schools, we do ask that they have their local public library complete our public library form (https://www.letsgocompost.org/libraries).

Each kit includes:

  1. One small indoor worm compost bin (Materials provided will not handle more than 0.5-1.0 lb of food waste each week. These systems are designed for small-scale educational use only. They are not intended to process ongoing food waste or public drop-off materials.)
  2. 500 composting worms
  3. 3 hours of virtual support
  4. Access to our K-12 NGSS/STEAM Classroom Composting curriculum

Let’s Go Compost provides initial materials and educational support for setup and curriculum integration. Ongoing maintenance, care of the worms, and replacement of materials (such as bedding or food) would be the responsibility of the participating school.

After the program concludes, schools are encouraged to continue using their worm farm for ongoing STEM education. A digital Worm Care Guide and optional follow-up session are available to participating schools to support long-term success. This program is great for schools looking to reduce their food waste with introductory level education, who may have a goal of working their way “up” into the cafeteria for larger projects and programs.

If you know any schools who may be interested, here is a link to learn more and a Google Form to apply:

  2. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdVT-U4vndvKaZ7gzTjcLKNkcG-VCHIxCiNRW6BxYaPBViUQA/viewform

It is a rolling deadline with applications being processed in the order they are received. We are able to support summer school programs, as well.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

"Worm" wishes,
