Now that the observation period for City Nature Challenge has ended, we're working hard to identify the 11,650+ observations shared. We want your help, so that we can have "research grade" data for scientists to utilize, and our species count can climb higher.

ID to the best of your ability. Changing something from a very broad category to something more specific helps!

Head to our CNC ABQ Identify Page to get started:

Filter by whatever you're best at identifying, or browse through a random assortment.

These resources from iNaturalist will help you work through the different categories of living things: https://www.inaturalist.org/pages/citynaturechallenge#identify

Join us in person to work on IDing together:

City Nature Challenge ABQ Identification Event

Location: New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science
Description: Gather with other nature enthusiasts to identify all the City Nature Challenge observations we can. This will be an informal event where we work on our own devices and chat about wildlife/plant identification.
What to Know: Event will be held in an education classroom at the museum. Check-in at the front of the museum and let them know you’re here for this event. Bring a laptop (or tablet) if able. Light refreshments will be provided.
