Dear EcoEd Community,
The Keynote Speaker for the NM Outdoor Learning Summit on November 1st at Bosque School in Albuquerque will be Dr. Joannie Suina, MJIL, Ed.D (Pueblo of Cochiti).
Dr. Suina serves as Assistant Secretary for Native American Early Education & Care at the New Mexico Early Childhood Education & Care Department (ECECD), where she advances initiatives in partnership with Tribal governments and programs. Her work upholds sovereign, government-to-government relationships with the 23 Nations, Pueblos, and Tribes of New Mexico and supports culturally and linguistically responsive early childhood systems. A two-time 40 Under 40 honoree and the 2025 Behavioral Health Star Award recipient, Dr. Suina brings executive experience across public policy, intergovernmental collaboration, and philanthropy, including securing more than $10 million for Native-led efforts. She is the founder of Corn Pollen Consulting, LLC. Dr. Suina holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, a Master of Jurisprudence in Indian Law, and a B.A. in Native American Studies. Above all, her most important role is being mother to four teenagers.
