  1. Posted on the calendar for this class was some notes that we went over during class in a power-point that you can preview. 
  2. There was no class on Oct. 29!
  3. The rough draft essay was due with 100 word responses to each group members rough draft by midnight Nov.1 
  4. Conferences are Tuesday Nov. 5. go on the calendar to choose your meeting time,
In your essays make sure to:
  • make it objective
  • cite CORRECTLY
  • it is SHOWING not telling
  • make it focused
  • follow template (handed out in class)
  • stay away from opinion
  • show your facts
  • more words, less numbers
  • short intro and conclusion
In class we went over:
  • MLA formatting
  • Original, Paraphrase, Summarize, or Plagiarism 
  • Focus on content, not author itself
  • There are two ways to cite- Lead-in phrase (insert name) and Parenthetical phrase (Last name). <--- period after parenthesis
  • "et al" = more than one author
  • "qtd, in" = indirect source
  • Use BibMe.org to cite, put in information manually. *double check! They are not always correct!
  • Tab over every line underneath the first when citing
