Unit 8: Transition Words

Rule- signal transition words between ideas or sentences

Don't do-connect sentences as a coordinator or subordinator

Example of transition words- cause and effect: therefore, thus, as a result, consequently

Transition format: Stalking is when two people go for a romantic walk together; however only one person knows it. ( the only time you use a semicolon)

To use transition words

1. Determine the relationship ( cause and effect, contrast, time or compare)

2. Select the best word and use it in the sentence
