Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund -- Grants 2011.  The
Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund makes grants up to US$25
thousand for the conservation of animal, bird, plant, and fungi
species worldwide.  Since its inception in 2009, the Fund has already
made grants for 380 conservation projects, mainly in the developing
countries.  Applications received by 31 March 2011 will be reviewed
before May.

Northeastern Wisconsin Zoo -- Conservation Grant Fund 2011.  The Fund
accepts proposals from individuals and organizations for one-year
conservation grants.  Most past grants have supported field projects
in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa, with grant amounts ranging up
to US$1 thousand.  Applications are accepted all year, but must be
received by 01 May to be considered by the Board.

Oregon Zoo Foundation -- Future for Wildlife 2011.   The Oregon Zoo
makes grants for field conservation in the USA's Pacific Northwest and
internationally. Projects must contribute to the survival of
populations of free-living animal species and the ecosystems in which
they are found. Awards range from US$500 to US$4,500. The deadlines
for proposals are 15 June and 15 December of each year.

Peoples Trust for Endangered Species.  The Trust supports
conservationists and researchers that aim for the preservation of
endangered species, either through research or practical field work.
Applications for work in all countries -- especially developing
countries and the UK --  are welcomed.  In 2010, the application
deadline was 30 June (monitor for changes 2011).

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service -- Critically Endangered Species Fund.
The Fund makes grants for projects that conserve the world’s most
endangered species.  Funding is focused on vertebrate species (except
species included in other USFWS grant programs) with natural habitat
ranges in developing countries.  Applicants are government agencies,
non-profit organizations, educational institutions, individuals, and
private sector entities.  The annual deadline is 15 June.

Zoo Boise Conservation Fund --  Wildlife Grants 2011.  Zoo Boise makes
grants up to US$30 thousand for wildlife conservation in Idaho USA and
around the world.  Grants support habitat restoration, wildlife
conservation and management, community-based conservation, and other
goals consistent with Zoo Boise's master plan.  Project proposals are
accepted from conservation organizations around the world.  The
application period is 01 April through 30 June 2011.

MAMIFEROS

American Society of Mammology -- Support for Mammology Research in
Latin America.   The ASM offers the Latin American Student Field
Research award for field projects by Latin American graduate students.
Each of five grant recipients will receive US$1,500.  The ASM also
offers the Oliver P. Pearson Award to young professional mammalogists
of any nationality who hold academic or curatorial positions in Latin
America.  The Pearson research grant is US$5,000 plus a travel grant
of US$2,000.   Applications for both types of awards are due by 15
April of each year

Society for Marine Mammology -- Research Grants 2011.  The Society for
Marine Mammology makes grants to help support marine mammal research
in emerging and developing countries, especially for early career
researchers. Individual awards are up to US$1,500. Membership in the
Society is not required. Applications are particularly welcome from
Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Pacific Island states, and countries
which made up the former USSR. Applicants notify the Society before 31
May of their intent to submit a proposal, and they present their
proposals by 30 June.

Zoological Society of London – Call for EDGE Fellows 2011. ZSL’s EDGE
of Existence Programme provides fellowships for two-year projects in
research and conservation of EDGE (Evolutionarily Distinct and
Globally Endangered) mammals and amphibians.  Applicants must be
early-career conservation biologists (less than 5 years experience)
who are nationals or residents of the country in which the EDGE
species occur. The Fellowship includes a grant of up to GBP 5,000 per
year, plus training and technical support. Applicants are strongly
advised to discuss their projects with the EDGE team before applying.
The application deadline is 31 May 2011.

American Society of Primatologists -- Small Research Grants 2011.  The
ASP makes one-year grants for research on either captive or wild
primates.  Preference is for training initiatives, start-up funds,
supplementary funding for students, and innovations in animal care and
research technology.  Applicants can be of any nationality.  Grants
range from US$500 to US$1500.  Applications are due 15 June 2011.
