Hi Folks,

I have recently opened a lodge in Pongwe, built with eco-sensitivity
in mind, that being one of our main ethos. This year i plan to convert
the whole lodge to solar power. We already have the solar hot water
heater and also the solar panels, the only thing we need is the
batteries and regulators and inverters. The inverters and regulators i
can source easily from Europe but the batteries i will need to get
here on the island. I know the solar shop down near FBME bank does
them, but they are rather pricey in there. Does anyone know of any
solar or deep cycle batteries between 50 - 100Ah available on the
island or of a supplier from Dar? I will need about 20 of them.

Thanks

Michael

Hi Michael,

We are currently talking with a South African named Glenn. Really good
person to talk too with lots of experience. I think he might be able
to help you out;

Hi all,

just wanted to correct an error here, for the sake of accuracy - Glenn is Norwegian (not South African). I can vouch for his company's fantastic work though, as he supplied and fitted all our solar water heaters at Panga Chumvi Beach Resort, Matemwe. We now have a continuous supply of beautiful hot water, using nothing but the power of the sun. Even over the past few weeks, when we've had a run of cloudy/rainy days, the water has gained enough heat to be very pleasant for showers and all our needs.

Kind regards,
Rebecca
