Subject: Happening NOW: Facebook World Record!
To: gccaall <gcc...@googlegroups.com>
Hi GCCA friends!
I wanted to share this opportunity to everyone, and invite you (and your supporters) to join in. You can invite them to be part of something really cool: a Guinness World Record, for the most number of comments on a Facebook post within 24 hours.
Simply put, we are asking Facebook to power its massive data centres - and our profiles, on renewable energy instead of dirty coal and dangerous nuclear.
Check out http://on.fb.me/FBunfriendcoal leave a comment (or ten) while you are there. Tell your networks on twitter, facebook, email that this is happening.
Draft tweets/status updates:
We've been asking Facebook to 'Unfriend Coal' for some months now, and are in negotiations with the company. They are starting to move but need a further public push. The campaign has, over the last year, helped to put climate & energy issues firmly on the agenda of the IT industry, which is predicted to triple its energy consumption by 2020, as the largest-growing energy-consumption sector of our society.
We're on track to get to exceed the world record of Facebook comments in 24 hours. In fact if you do the math it looks like we will reach 50,000 in about 1 hour time (17:00). People all over the world are participating in real time.
Also a direct communication today in Italy watch it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lY3Tqz8Nsv4 and yesterday we were in Dublin at Facebook headquarters. http://www.rte.ie/news/2011/0412/greenpeace.html ... and *really* soon, we'll be turning at their FB HQ in Palo Alto, California. :-D
Yay! World Records!
Any questions, please ask!
