Professor Wang Gungwu
Professor Wang was Vice-Chancellor of The University of Hong Kong from 1986 to 1995. He is the former Director of East Asian Institute and now its Chairman. He is also University Professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS), and Emeritus Professor, Australian National University, Canberra. He holds many appointments and awards, among which include:
In Singapore, Chairman of Governing Board, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy; Chairman, Board of Trustees, Institute of Southeast Asian Studies; Vice-Chairman, Board of Governors, Chinese Heritage Centre; Member, Board of Governors, Institute of Policy Studies; Member, Board of Governors, S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University.
Outside Singapore, Fellow, Australian Academy of the Humanities (President, 1980-1983); Foreign Honorary Member, American Academy of Arts and Science; Member, Academia Sinica, Taipei; Honorary Research Fellow, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing.
Mr. Hsieh Tsun-Yan
Mr. Hsieh is the founder and lead counselor of LinHeart Group, a Leadership services firm specialized in Advising boards and Counseling CEOs on issues of succession, leadership trajectory and top team effectiveness. In a career spanning 30 years with McKinsey, he served clients in as many countries and industries amassing a wealth of experience in corporate transformation and leader development. He joined McKinsey in Toronto and became its Managing Director, Canada. He founded McKinsey's Leadership Services globally to help clients grow more, better leaders faster.
As Chairman of McKinsey's Professional Development Committee, he introduced apprenticeship and a leadership model that stood the test of time. He returned to Asia in 2000 as Managing Director of ASEAN practice and was Chairman of Asia Client Committee till he retired in 2008. He is currently an Independent Director of Sony Corporation and serves also on its Global Advisory Council. Board roles in Singapore included the Singapore International Foundation, the National University of Singapore Business School, the Institute of Policy Studies and the Singapore Symphony. In Toronto, he served on the boards of Covenant House and the University Health Network foundation. In addition he is a Collective Member in the pioneering venture capital firm, Cue Ball Capital, based in Boston.
Mrs. Yu-Foo Yee Shoon
In 1984, Mrs. Yu-Foo Yee Shoon was elected Member of Parliament. Since then, she has repeatedly been returned to represent the electoral division of Yuhua, now part of the Jurong Group Representation Constituency (GRC). She is currently representing Bukit Timah Constituency which is part of the Holland – Bukit Timah Group Representation Constituency (GRC). In June 1999, she was appointed Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the then Ministry of Community Development and Sports.
In November 2001, she was appointed Mayor of the Bukit Timah Community Development Council (CDC), which subsequently expanded to become the South West CDC. In August 2004, Mrs. Yu-Foo was appointed Minister of State for the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.She was named “Woman of the Year” in 1995 by Her World Magazine. In 1997, she was awarded the Rochdale Medal by the Singapore National Co-operative Federation and in 2005, she received the Alumni Achievement Award from the Nanyang Technological University. In May 2008, she was conferred the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Education by Wheelock College, Boston, USA. Currently, she is also the Chairperson of Comcare Supervisory Committee. The Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations (SCWO) inducted her to its Wall of Fame in 2009.
