Hi ECO Miners!
Grace Harper asked me to let you know that there’s an opportunity to help out with the Green Roof this Friday at 9:00 for about an hour (please see note below). They need help moving the plants from the truck up to the roof—it’ll be a good chance to see a preview of how the green roof is actually going to work. If you’re available, I hope you’ll volunteer to help out.

We also need help to move the plants from the truck up on the roof. The plants should be here at 9 AM
this Friday (April 12th). We'll need 10 volunteers; it won't last more than an hour. Please email me, Grace Harper at
grace....@mail.mst.edu if you are able to help. We will meet outside of electrical in the walkway on the campus-facing side of the building. This Friday, they are also laying the media and drainage layer so
you will be able to see some awesome green roof construction in action!

Here's the planting plan:
We'll be planting from 9 AM to 4 PM.
I set up a doodle so that people can sign up for times they want to work. We will probably want between 8 to 10 people at any given time:

We'll have people meet outside of electrical in the walkway on the campus-facing side of the building at the beginning of each hour (I'll put up a sign) and then they can receive a quick how-to and begin planting.
We need planters to wear soft, flat shoes (nothing that could hurt a roof membrane) and it gets really bright on the roof with the new white membrane so sunglasses will help a lot! We won't be using any planting tools so we can't harm the roof and just some
simple paint sticks and our hands to dig.
Let me know if you have any other questions! We'll have the layout of the planting design sprayed onto the dirt the day before so we'll be all ready for planting on April 16th.

I will defer to Jim D on timing. 9:00?
For being on roof, we should stipulate soft soles, no heals.
We will also need a little (3-5people) help Friday, April 12. Plants will arrive and we need to move them to roof.
Not sure on time yet, but if folks are too busy the 16th.
I am in St. Louis for Pre-op today. Monday is the big event.
I hope to be helpful by the plant arrival.

So sorry to hear about your injury! I hope you’re not too uncomfortable.
I’m also sorry to turn your attention to a work question, but here goes. (And I actually have two.)
1. Do you know what time we should tell people to show up to help plant the roof on April 16? And if you don’t know, is there someone else I should ask? (I need to know only because I’m getting ready to print No Impact Week schedules, and also the Communications people are writing a press release.)
2. Do you know anything about clearance or waivers or anything else like that related to students being up on the roof? Are students allowed to just walk out there? (Andy Careaga wanted to know the answer to this one.)
