Do you think the government should force citizens to do civil service

I think civil service should be done at the will of the citizens, the government shouldn't make anybody do anything.

The moment the government forces the people to do something against it's will, that's when we will see bigger protests and possible riots. Then again I don't see this being an issue in the near future. I agree the government shouldn't force anything on the people, but if the situation calls for it, then I'd understand. The goal of the government to do what the people can't do for themselves.

I think civil service shouldn't be forced on the people but it is required of people to do it to achieve certain things, like graduating high schools and some colleges and when you have committed a criminal offense you are given civil service or given the option to do so.

I agree with you all, I feel that the government should not force citizens to do civil service. If the government started forcing citizens to do civil services, I feel that the return would not be as great. Like the conversation we had in class pertaining to civil service versus military service. Since the military is compensated for what they do, more people are willing to join the military. I feel that if people were compensated for doing civil service more people would do it but would it technically be a civil service still, since you are now being paid for it instead of doing it to help others and make others feel good. I feel that the government should not force citizens to do civil service but I do feel that it it could also benefit the economy as well if they did. Yes and No.
