Liberty vs Security: What Would You Choose?

If you had to sacrifice one for the other, what would it be and why?

It all depends.  I said I would sacrifice Liberty, but my view is definitely not black and white.
I tend to be more on the conservative side of things, but this is something I'm not sure about.

I want to know what the government is monitoring, and why they are monitoring it.
If the government is just looking at my information so they send it to companies for advertising purposes, then that is not okay. 
I agree there has to be a boundary in which the government cannot cross, but if someone has broken the law, then they have abused a privilege and do not deserve 'liberty'.
