Dear friends,
We are doing ECMO in a patient with respiratory failure due to swine flu in Mumbai. After 7 days of hospitalization and after 2 days on ventilator, his spO2 were 56 % on 100 % FIO2 and 20 PEEP. He is stable on VV ECMO now since 2 days. He will require ECMO for quite some time, because of swine flu which takes time to reverse, unlike ARDS. Interested ECMO doers may participate to the live ECMO demonstration.

Dear friends,
We are doing ECMO in a patient with respiratory failure due to swine flu in Apollo Hospital, Sarita Vihar, on Mathura Road at Delhi. After 7 days of hospitalization already on ventilator from another hospital, his spO2 were 80 % on 100 % FIO2 and 14 PEEP since 2 days. He is now getting stable on VV ECMO with sats. getting above 90% on 4.5 lit flow of ECMO. His ventilator parameters have been reduced to rest ventilator settings to give rest to lungs for better healing. He may require ECMO for quite some time, because of swine flu, which takes time to reverse, unlike ARDS. Interested ECMO doers may participate in discussion or to the live ECMO demonstration with prior permission.

Dear Friends,
This was the fourth ECMO call for a swine flu patient last month. We feel a surge of swine flu cases is again springing in the background. We have another swine flu patient at Ahmedabad. He is 120 kg and is now stabilizing on ECMO. Interested people can contact us or visit the case if you happen to come to Ahmedabad.

That's great guys.

Looks like at Max, we are having bit of slow season since last 1 month. However in jan- feb we did 3 ECMO runs for severe ARDS and 2 of them has gone home and we lost one of our patient.
So far out of 10 respiratory cases 7 has gone home.

Let's continue to work together to improve ecmo care.

Kind regards
