In this post I wanted to give a high level of how I see Ecko-It
working:

Really, there are two main categories. Liferecording and Meetings. I
think I made the mistake of trying to shove these two into the same
box, but I will address that issue later.

Some general concepts and goals.

1. A device is worn. Quick to turn on to start recording. One button
as a remember that. Must be able to set date/time so as to have proper
timestamps.
2. A simple usb pluggin/autodetect and begin to upload.
3. After upload a view that shows all the new tags. A way to quickly
listen to the tagged audio segments and tag them with topics. Need to
be able to resize the audio segment to capture the whole 'clip'. Also
need to enter short text description.
4. Flip to the topic view. Be able to see and maintain topics and
listen to them as a 'topic playlist'
5. Add info to topics. Then ecko-it becomes like a wiki. You have the
source context of the info, why not be able to add in text, pics, etc.
6. Linkable. Have nice urls. Be able to link to topics, or spots in
the audio timeline.
7. Timeline view. Be able to listen to the audio continuously. Drag to
any point in time. See also tagged segments.

For meetings:

1. Be able to create an agenda.
2. Start a meeting by picking agenda and starting audio recording.
3. Be able to type in notes, click to set action items.
4. Try to identify speakers in the audio (who spoke when)
5. Provide an immediate url that can be sent to participants after the
meeting is complete.
6. Be able to edit and update the tagged meeting sections after the
meeting.

Thats kind of the high level overview. I will elaborate as needed.

I see another main categorie for the Ecko-It: activism.

In some countries, people are might be political persecuted, and this kind of programs may help to record conversation that some people doesn't want to be recorded, or that if they see your Recorder you might be persecuted.

I agree. Here are some links I have on the topic:

What things do you think it would need to become a successful activism tool?

My use example is for writing fiction. I think recording dialog live
can make it sound more natural. Writers notoriously have loads of
notes written all over the place. The problem can be finding them all
and knowing the context of the idea.

Ryan we talked a little bit about this before but I think pairing the audio from a lecture with a class submitted wiki would be great for students.

I thought of a possible new usage. There are people who do voice
acting as a hobby and professionally. They add voice overs to animated
movies, radio plays etc. Eckoit could help them organise projects.
Take a look at this forum:

I found it by chance when I needed a voice-over done.
