to EckoIt
Well, its been summer here, lots of holiday time, but I have not been
slacking! Here are some updates on what is happening with Ecko-It.

1. An re-vamped installer.
We have two groups of people on this list, developer types and users.
So far the developers have had all the fun using CouchDB replication
to get the latest releases. But I have been busy making a new
installer. A one click wonder that installs all the pieces needed to
run Ecko-it, and to get it to always get the latest updates. It is 99%
ready, I am just waiting for one bug to be squashed but iriscouch (a
hosting provider). For those technical here, the installer is generic
and can be used with any couchapp. I have spawned its own open source
project here:

https://github.com/ryanramage/couchapp-takeout

Once the bug is squashed I will let you know. Then all of you who have
received your liferecorder can get rocking!

2. A revamping of eckoit.com
I have been working with Derrick of nerdbusiness.com (and who has been
wearing a liferecorder), and he had done some work on a new
eckoit.com site. It looks waaaay and should be out shortly.

3. Getting ready for v2.
Ok, so many of you have not even tried v1 yet...but we are looking at
a major revamp of the application. I kind of want to start from
scratch...Building on what I have learned from the current version,
and also collecting your input. I would like those here to
participate. The first step is to capture the 'stories', what we want
this thing to do. I have started a 'storyboard' here:

https://www.pivotaltracker.com/projects/348477

All the stories are in the 'icebox' right now as they are in no way
finalized. Once they are, we move them to the backlog, meaning they
are ready to be developed. Please get your thinking caps on and send
me some stories/features to put it. Try to keep them small in size as
the example in there are. I can help you write them, or I can give you
access to the tool and you can put them in.

Once we have a general feel going, we will revisit the mocks that Al
so kindly started here:

So that is what is going on. I hope I can rekindle some of the
discussion and enthusiasm that was happening before the holidays hit.

Ryan
