* Java Posse Roundup conference discount
The JavaPosse Roundup, March 6-9, Crested Butte, CO
Because of problems in getting the newsletter out, for many of you
this is the first you've heard of it. Newsletter readers can still get
the early-bird discount; see below.
The JavaPosse is a very popular podcast dedicated to the Java
Language, delivered by four Java experts: Tor Norbye, Carl Quinn, Dick
Wall and Joe Nuxoll. The JavaPosse is one of the most effective ways
that I keep up on Java news and developments (usually while driving).
You can find out more and get the podcasts here: http://
www.javaposse.com
We've decided to do an open-spaces style conference, March 6-9, in
Crested Butte, Colorado. We'll have sessions in the morning, ski in
the afternoon, then have informal evening time for dinner, discussion,
etc.
The conference is limited to 70 attendees, and you'll need to get
lodging ASAP, so don't wait!
This is the general information page:

* Designing Objects & Systems DVDs now available
This is a video from a live, 5-day seminar that I gave with Bill
Venners. It comes on multiple DVDs, and contains approximately 21
hours of lecture and discussion. You can find details, sample clips
and purchasing information here:

* Hands-On Java 2nd edition available again
A move to another server broke the sales system, but it's back up
again:

This page also has information about upcoming Java CDs.

* Thinking in Java 3e and TIC++ V1 Solution Guides available
The server move also broke the sales and delivery system for these,
but I've recently resurrected them via Payloadz.com, a service I've
been quite happy with so far.

* Need Copyeditor for Thinking in Java 4e Solution Guide
The 4th edition Java solution guide is finished except for editing. It
was rewritten by Ervin Varga, who has excellent technical skills but
is not a native English speaker, and so most of the work that needs to
be done is in reworking sentences to make them flow. It's helpful if
you have the ability to understand Java, but it's more important that
you know how to clarify sentences and turn passive voice into active
voice.
The book is in Microsoft Word and will be kept in a subversion
repository, so you'll need to be comfortable with both of those
technologies.
If you're interested, send a message describing yourself and your
experience to Mindview....@gmail.com.

* New OpenLevel™ Thinking in Java Seminar
This is a new seminar format that allows people of all skill levels to
participate and benefit. I also think that you'll learn a lot more,
and that it will be more fun and engaging than the traditional "eyes-
forward" style of seminar:

* Hybridizing Java
This article on combining Java on the server with Flash/Flex on the
client generated quite a bit of discussion:
