2days ago this was flawless, today, I can launch subnautica but not from vortex, nor do any mods load and i dont recall installing to my c drive but low and behold their it is. all my bethesda games are on the E drive (only subnautica is on my D drive as it uses sym-link deployment) so am fairly certain i would have opted to install it on the E drive for the hard-link deployment.
As part of the process of elimination, I am going to re-install vortex now, if it wont let install to my E drive, I will try using steam mover. not sure what to do if that yields nothing... it leaves one thing, the Fences app from Stardock that i got to unclutter my desktop...might have overwritten something but then i can launch everything from the desktop just fine...
At that point I still could not launch Subnautica from Vortex so I closed it and tried booting the "subnautica.exe" directly and had the same problem, but i could still launch it from the desktop icon but no mods were loading, so I right clicked on the icon to look at its properties, instead of a "shortcut" tab it has a "web document" tab.
so unless it becomes possible to change the target setting "D:\Epic Games\Subnautica\Subnautica.exe" in vortex and replace it with the URL present in the icons web docment tab, we can no longer launch/run subnautica from Vortex dashboard.
need help running subnautica mods on epic-games launcher. i installed qmods in the game directory but popped up as "not found"....left it that way and created a new folder "Qmods" and droped the mod folder in the directory. The mod dosn't work when i run the game.
the qmod installation method i think was meant to work on STEAM platform and not EPIC-GAMES i guess. is there a qmod installation for epic-games or a way around. Or dose it only work on the Steam platform, if so how do i transfer the game and save data to steam....i might need to create a back up also...no clue how.
oh it took me about a day to figure out that instead of "D:\Epic Games\Subnautica\QMods\Qmods - No Autosort\DockedVehicleStorageAccess" "docked vehicle storage access" needs to be "D:\Epic Games\Subnautica\QMods\DockedVehicleStorageAccess".
Hello. Hope you can help me... Play subnautica on epic games and install nitrox multiplayer. But nothing is stored concerning collected things or boxes. Buildings that have been built remain. So it looks like the private stuff is not saved. Thanks for your help!
Hi. I am nearly done this great game. Are time capsules still being sent to the site for approval? Do you need ps+ to upload a time capsule? My ps+ just expired. Not renewing it till I finish some of my offline games in backlog. I wanted to leave behind some good items in the time capsule but not wasting my time if they aren't registering anymore.
Here is what I want to leave behind:
You definitely don't need PS Plus to send a Time Capsule, whether they are still being approved though, is hard to say for sure. A few months ago a developer from UW claimed they recently started accepting new Time Capsules again (this was a bit before the release of Below Zero), but they never specified if they were doing it on every platform or just PC. When I sent my capsule I checked the website to see if it made the list (capsules that still needed to be approved), but I didn't find it, so my guess was that they're only still checking capsules on the PC servers.
Was on the official Subnautica forum today. All I could find was Steam time capsule thread. The submissions were over 2 years old as well. I didn't see any ps4 Time Capsule threads.. Maybe I didn't look hard enough. Will look a bit more another time. Guess it doesn't matter. I'll just submit it anyways, time to move on. Starting The Forest next. On sale now for $10.
FYI, Time Capsules from PS4 are no longer accepted. I tried submitting mine 3 times and it did not show up on the website, as well as the fact that it seems there are no PS4 submissions by anybody else.
Subnautica is a game with tense survival, creative crafting, and wonderful exploration. After playing for a while, you may want to try out the game with friends. Playing Subnautica multiplayer with friends is more difficult than first expected, but we are here to help you explore the world with others.
If you want to play Subnautica multiplayer, there are a few steps to take first. This includes installing and setting up the multiplayer mod first. It's important to note that this mod is not compatible with Subnautica: Below Zero. As this is a mod for the PC version of the game, this will not work on the console version of Subnautica.
Updated December 7, 2023, by Sean Murray: You've probably enjoyed Subnautica enough to want to play it with a friend, which is why the Subnautica multiplayer mod exists. For those looking to dive deep with friends, this guide is here to help. We've also updated this guide with a few formatting tweaks and more links to other helpful Subnautica topics.
No, there is no official Subnautica multiplayer. The developers of Subnautica stated that adding multiplayer to the game would require either rebuilding the engine from scratch or devoting an entire team to squeezing it into its current iteration.
The Nitrox mod is open-source, and there's a Nitrox Discord channel, meaning users have dedicated a good deal of time to refining the experience. You may encounter bugs as the mod is a work in progress. It shouldn't mess up your game, but it will probably result in some inconveniences during play.
In the Nitrox Launcher, click on the Server option and then press Start Server. This will open a Windows Command prompt window, and you have to click 'Allow Access' if you get a Firewall notification.
If you followed these instructions, you will see the game boot up, and when you reach the main menu, there will be an option that reads 'Multiplayer.' As a host of the server, do the following:
The friends you want to play Subnautica with will need to follow the same instructions and grab the mod from Nitrox. Run the Nitrox Launcher and click on the Play Multiplayer option.
Enter the IP address information and then join. If it all goes to plan, you will appear in your friend's world, and you can both begin the great exploration and survival Subnautica offers together.
Nitrox offers basic Subnautica gameplay with friends. The world will react to any player picking up and dropping items and will even maintain the environment if players separate to a certain distance.
One helpful addition is a chat function. Since Subnautica's original form is a single-player game, it doesn't have an in-game chat. This allows you to keep in touch with friends, even if they are far away. Lastly, you can also get a Windows launcher that makes launching the multiplayer version of Subnautica easier.
When you are playing Subnautica you might need to forward some ports in your router. Forwarding ports is a useful trick in gaming because it can really help to make your network connection most stable and intermittently even faster. Routers were not designed to allow incoming network requests and some games can play tremendously better if an incoming connection is forwarded through the router to the game.
We use and recommend NordVPN because not only is it the fastest VPN, it includes a new feature called Meshnet that makes forwarding a port no longer necessary for most applications. With NordVPN Meshnet, you can connect to your devices from anywhere in the world, completely secure, over a highly encrypted VPN tunnel.
Once you've set up your NordVPN account on multiple computers and enabled Meshnet, you can seamlessly access all of your devices as if they were on the same network. You don't even have to log in to your router. It's very simple.
A smart way to forward your ports is to use Network Utilities. Since Network Utilities allows you to both forward and un-forward ports easily you can keep your network security maximized, and then forward ports only when you need them. Alternatively you can do it by hand.
You might notice that most of our site doesn't have ads on it. This is because we use partnerships with companies like NordVPN to keep the site running. Thank you for supporting us by using our referral links.
Subnautica: Below Zero is set to take players even deeper underwater than its predecessor, and exploration and survival are always better with friends. For this reason, many players may find themselves wondering whether or not there is any kind of multiplayer to be had in the game. Unfortunately, the answer is a bit more complicated than it may seem at first, as multiplayer is a feature that Subnautica devs Unknown Worlds has been considering for quite some time now, and it has even made an official statement some time ago on the matter.
For those that may be out of the loop, the relationship between Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero can be a bit confusing at first. Officially, Subnautica: Below Zero was referred to as a standalone expansion to the original Subnautica game, but since then its taken on an identity as its own title. Unknown Worlds' first deep sea exploration game was released in 2018, and Below Zero has been in early access on Steam since 2019. May 14th marks the official console release of Below Zero, opening up the game to a whole new playerbase.
