Honourable EXCO and Board members,

  

On September 2^nd, a regularly scheduled meeting of the Electoral Committee was held, which honourable Daniel called in to, representing his chapter for the first time. The attack on the Chair lady began following the Chair's  comments about her view on the candidacy of honourable Lanre Sanusi of Dallas chapter. Honourable Daniel's first comment was to  ask whether decisions are made jointly by the Committee or solely by the Chair lady. Some members of the Committee spoke up to say that decisions are made by the Committee and not by the Chair lady alone. This question was the beginning of what  eventually ended the meeting without completing its agenda.

 

However, before the meeting ended, the Chair asked for a motion on the contentious issue of the candidacy of honourable Sanusi, a motion was moved with 9 members present, 3 members voted 'Yes' to allow Hon  Sanusi to continue his candidacy and 1 member voted 'No' with 4 members abstaining and the chair not voting.

 

Following the vote, the Chair stated that the vote failed, this was when the attack on the Chair by honourable Daniel intensified, voices were raised, people were talking and shouting over each other at the same time, unflattering comments were made, at that point the Chair lady hung up and left the meeting.

 

This was a display of disrespect to the Chair and as members of this great organization, we need to learn to disagree respectfully with each other and know that the organization is bigger than any one of us.
