FAMU GRANT/SCHOLARSHIP FOR AFRICAN AMERICAN FEMALES

UC SANTA CRUZ ACCESS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Provides 2-year scholarship of up to $10,000 for each year to high-achieving, financially disadvantaged students pursuing degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering at the Baskin School of Engineering at UC Santa Cruz. Info: www.soe.ucsc.edu.

CALIFORNIA STATE PTA
This is a high school senior scholarship of $500 to acknowledge volunteer service in school/community. There are up to 150 throughout the state. Must be member of local PTA. JANICE M. SCOTT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Qualifications: U.S. citizen or permanent resident, GPA of 2.5 or higher, high school senior who will enroll at 4-year college in 2009, and has demonstrated leadership abilities through participating in community services, extra curricular or other activities. COMPASSION & CHOICES OF NORTHERN CA WRITING CONTEST
Matters of Life & Death Writing Contest is open to students in 11th or 12th grades. Its goal is to expose students to the issues surrounding aid-in-dying and to financially assist college-bound scholars. Prizes: $1,000 first $500 second, and $250 for Honorable Mention. ITALIAN CATHOLIC FEDERATION SCHOLARSHIPS
$400 scholarships are available to Roman Catholic graduating seniors of Italian descent who have at least a 3.2 GPA. VIETNAM VETERANS GROUP OF SAN QUENTIN SCHOLARSHIP
They will present a scholarship of $1,500 and may award $750 for the Mary Manley Inspirational Award for an exceptionally inspiring essay. STEPHANIE BROWN CADET MEMORIAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
The award is for $1,000 for a graduating senior or college student in good standing who has done a significant number of volunteer hours within the last 18 months with a GPA of 3.0 who will attend a 2 or 4 year college, vocational or technical college during the next school year who is a resident of the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. STUDENT INSIGHTS MARKET RESEARCH FOR HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarships are: 1/$4,000, 1/$1,000, and 4/$500 for students planning on attending 2/4/career schools. 2009 BAY AREA COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The awards range from $5,000 to $10,000 and are determined by the student's financial situation and the need from their financial aid packages for college. BIO-RAD SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Bio-Rad scholarship program is for students with a passion for and career interest in science. Two awards are available: Ron Mardigian Memorial of $2,500 and one for $1,000. Requirements: graduating senior within 50 miles of Hercules, GPA of 2.5 or higher, and accepted at a 2/4 year college program at the time that the scholarship is awarded. Deadline: March 15th. KEVIN DAMON POOLE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
His memorial foundation offers scholarship to high school graduates planning on attending college. Since Kevin was aspiring to become a Mass Communication's Major, the Foundation gives high priority to students going into the field of Journalism. Application must include: transcript, a letter of recommendation from one or more school personnel (principal, teacher, or counselor), a letter of personal reference from a non-family member, and a brief essay about yourself telling why you chose the field you plan to pursue. CALIFORNIA ALARM ASSOCIATION YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The CAA offers grants for children of law enforcement and fire service personnel. Northern CA regional awards are $1,000/first place and $750/second place. First place winners go on to State and possibly National awards. Rules: student must by 15-20 years old, a graduating senior and accepted for admission to an accredited college. Eligibility: student must have parent or legal guardian who is a full-time active duty employee, and not on disability who is a member of a law enforcement agency or a full-time paid or volunteer member of a fire department located in CA. Along with the completed application the student must submit: transcript, proof of college acceptance, and proof of parent's occupation (ID or supervisory letter acceptable), There is also an essay about how their parent or guardian helps secure their community. RICHMOND YOUNG SCHOLARS SCHOLARSHIP
The Richmond Police Activities League gives over 20 scholarships to Richmond residents, RPAL member (past or present), or senior attending school in the WCCUSD. Requirements: senior planning on attending a 2/4/technical school after graduation, GPAof 2.0, a letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor, an essay, and completed application form. RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES SCHOLARSHIPS

RICHMOND FIRE DEPARTMENT YOUTH ACADEMY
The Richmond Youth Academy has professional firefighters who work with high school students to serve the community by promoting public safety and health. The cadets meet every Saturday morning from March to November. Opportunities for field trips, excursions and Summer Youth Employment will be offered to those cadets who demonstrate that they accept the challenge to improve their academic performance, provide community service, and exercise self discipline. HISPANIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND-Steps for Success workshops are designed to help 6th to 12th graders finish high school better prepared for college.
