As a proud El Cerritan and mother of two Gauchos (including a current Junior), I’m honored to serve as part of a neighbor-led effort to move our city forward.
We’re a group of dedicated residents prioritizing our own personal time and skills (most working full time and juggling busy lives) to move this effort forward—and we’re growing. Learn more: https://www.anewelcerritolibrary.com/
Our citizens’ initiative places a real plan on the June ballot to ensure our library is vibrant, seismically and environmentally safe, and welcoming to all—now and for generations to come. Our real plan is to secure funding that allows us to choose from all viable options (5 currently), including renovating the current site.

About the Citizens’ Initiative
California is a State where direct democracy thrives (26 States provide for us, the people, to bring forth initiatives, California is one) and where we the people have a voice and the power to bring forth a project to make the place we live, our wonderful El Cerrito, an even better place for us and for the generations to come.
This effort reflects years, and months of grassroots work—walking neighborhoods, tabling, connecting with 10,000+ residents, meeting reporting requirements, and working with legal counsel to develop the ordinance and ballot language. More background: https://www.elcerrito.gov/1753/June-2026-Ballot-Measure-C
While we were building this proposal, opposition efforts began early—often relying on misleading or divisive narratives that risk undermining essential community services like our library. Our focus remains on facts, transparency, and delivering a plan our community can trust.
Library Task Force (Youth Member Needed)
If Measure C passes, the community will help choose among five options, including renovation. Residents—including a youth member—to join the Library Task Force, which will guide community engagement and advise the City Council on a modern, safe, accessible, and sustainable library.
