[[Opportunity For Your Students] UC Berkeley SWE HSEP

Dear teachers and parents,

Hello!

We are writing to you on behalf of the UC Berkeley Society of Women Engineers (SWE) about our high school outreach program, which is an exciting opportunity for your students to get involved in science and engineering. We would greatly appreciate it if you could share the information below with them. This information is also available in a flyer format.

The High School Engineering Program is a 10-week program developed by the UC Berkeley Society of Women Engineers for female-identifying high school students. The program is intended to teach students more about engineering and science by having them work in groups on technical and practical engineering projects, which will hopefully foster further interest in science and engineering. Each team will be paired with a UC Berkeley SWE mentor, who will help guide the project.

No prior engineering or programming experience is expected! We will be introducing concepts from the ground up. Topics we’ve previously covered include computer science, electrical engineering, bioengineering, chemical engineering, materials science engineering, civil engineering, and industrial engineering.

The program is held free of cost for all participants! The program will be held every Saturday starting September 12th (only the first meeting on Sunday) until November 20th over Zoom from 10 AM to 1 PM, with a holiday on October 30th. Participants are expected to have access to a computer with a stable wifi connection.

Applications are available now at https://tinyurl.com/hsepfa21app and will be due at 11:59 PM on Friday, September 3rd.

More information about our program can be found at https://swe.berkeley.edu/hsep
If you or your students have any questions, you can contact us at swe.highsch...@gmail.com.

Thank you,
Catherine and Jin
