I've heard these speakers on many occasions, and have to say that for the price, the sound quality is OK. For the same money you could easily get a good set of Infinity's, Klipsch, or Axiom's. I don't find them to be especially musical, but they are very good for home theatre. They can take a pounding, but I find that the treble becomes very distorted at high volume. But still... hooked up to good components, these speakers perform pretty well.
i can't see why people are so complaining these speaker. they have a very nice sound that could be compared to other more expensive speaker. i bought them 2 weeks ago at my local store(stereo plus) and im just please with them. i think that nuance is underestimated. i did not see there other product but the star 1 is exellent for the price.
Hi people! here it is ! as of now I listen to new age mostly.have had these towers for a while they are ...don't no. has one 8 inch mid and one tweeter. they are Bi-ampable they are 100watts ( the lowend i guess)but they do sound good! for the price well Its any buddies guess!it's only worth what you pay!
Listened to their "special" cds and brought in my own, the speakers sounded very good. Got the mains and center for $800. They still sounded good when I got home. The bass response is excellent for their size and I like the 3D soundstage effects(the sound relly does surround you with some cds). With volume up the highs are clear and not too harsh. But I have had to take them in a few times to replace some parts. The salespeople and their tactics, and the "discount" pricing are serious drawbacks and I would say that there good enough reasons not to purchase, but I have meet pushy a**holes at big box electronics stores and at elite "know-it-all so I can treat you like dirt" small audio/video specialist stores too.So I have been generally happy with the sound quality of the S1s and have listened to other speakers in the same price range(JBL,Infinity,Polk) that didn''t sound any better.
I've had the misfortune of buying Nuance speakers. The nuance speakers sound great if you've never owned or heard a pair of hi-fi loudspeakers before. I'm now a proud owner of Tannoy m-2 and m-5 speakers and the nuance speaker dont even come close to this speakers in terms of imaging, bass, colour, vibrancy.
I use a Onkyo TX-DS 575 receiver with Kimber 4-VS cables and I've had to turn up the volume really high just so that I could listen to the Nuance speakers. No good quality speakers should that to your amp/receiver
Friends - take time to listen to other speakers - you'll probably end up spending the same amount of money but for a good pair of speakers. Here's a list of some good speakers: Paradigm Reference series, PSB Image series, Mission 77 series, Totem, Klipsch, Linn, Acoustic Energy Aegis One, KEF Cresta 2 etc. Remember a buy a speaker based on the spec of your amp/receiver. check the impedance and sensitivity. dont spend too much time on the Watts.
I have had them for 6 month , and i truly dont believe that they are all THAT bad of a speaker. When you consider their price range they compete in a $500 range but. They definatley lack bass for a 8" driver, go listen to a PSB,PARADIGM and you'll see what i mean , The sales reps are the people who ruin the company they could sell shorts to an eskimo! They are extremely pushy.
I came across these speakers quite inadvertantly. I was with a friend looking for car speakers when this sales guy asked if we wanted to hear something cool. We had to wait, anyway, so we said sure. Long story short: These are the most amazing speakers I've heard. I don't know why people are bashing them mercilessly, but Nuance is a speaker force to be reckoned with. I don't work for Nuance and have never even heard of them until a few days ago. I intend to buy a system with Nuance speakers. The way they make sound surround you with just two speakers is amazing; sound to the left and right of you and even above and below...with two speakers! (we checked to make sure nothing funny was rigged).
By the way, sales people have nothing to do with quality of speakers. Why are these people constantly bashing salesmen? Who cares? (my sales guy was laid back and informative, but that's beside the point)
I've had my Star 1's for a couple of years now and think there great. I was going to buy PSB 300's at the time but After hearing Nuance Star 1's, Felt they were a much better price performer. (yes I heard the rep's play some selected cuts, but I went back later with my own CD's and still thought the Stars were great). I'm using them for Home theatre Main right & left. I just upgraded my system to Dolby Digital and replaced my surround speakers with Nuance 1m's.
I'm delighted with the total sound and the quality of the product. Has anyone looked at the construction of PSB Alpha's lately? I wasn't impressed with construction compared to Nuance.
well, when I bought these I had no bases for comparison, this is my first stereo. 4 star3m's, one centre, and a pioneer reciever.
well, my basica complaint is the value of these speakers are about $900 each, I was just offered an upgrade to star4m's... for an additional $900... I do not feel a sub is worth $900 extra when the whole speaker itself is worth $900.
well, I don't know too much about these speakers.. I am not giving them a good or bad review I don't feel I have a right to because I have no comparison.
I would like to hear more about this 3d technology nuance has copyrighted and not from the guys selling it to me.
these speakers do sound better and go louder than another set I heard back in 1987 worth about $1,000 in total.
if anyone can show me a non-bias review or some stats of these speakers can you please send me an e-mail to dar...@angelicus.thewebzone.net ?
