Panama City Beach, AHA National “Big Brew” Day
Note: 30 April 2011, NOT May 7th!!!
Emerald Coast Homebrew Organization (ECHO) will once again participate in the American Home brewers Association annual “Big Brew. But we will NOT, I repeat NOT be brewing on the “official” date due to several member conflicts. We will be brewing poolside THIS SATURDAY at St. Thomas Square Condominium, 8730 Thomas Drive, Panama City Bch, FL, starting at 10 AM.
We will have two beers brewing. We will do a demo-brew of the True Brew Double IPA kit, courtesy of Flagala Hardware, one of our long-time ECHO sponsors. “Brewing on the Beach” will also be demonstrating a 10-gallon all-grain, “Beach Bum Ale”.
Also like last year, we’ll be doing a potluck BBQ lunch. Bring something to throw on the grill and share, or a side dish, and of course…bring some of your finest homebrew to share and brag about. PLEASE sign up on the forum or RSVP to ECHO on FACEBOOK or this e-mail so we have a head count.
A Honey of a Deal!!!
Gooch arranged for a special wholesale honey opportunity for us. A new bee keeper in Wewa who is just getting his business off the ground has a crop of wildflower honey ready for sale. This is raw, unpasteurized honey that has been spun and filtered. So it’s ideal for Meads, Beer, and wines since it retains all the natural flavor and character of our local honey. This is available at $20/gal (which is a STEAL) and there is only 9 gallons available in this batch. If you are interested, do NOT e-mail me. Go to the forum http://echo.lozt.com/index.php and sign up in the honey thread in the Ingredients folder. We are trying to get delivery for distribution at Big Brew. So don’t delay!
If you want to hold out for Tupelo Honey, that will be available in mid to late May for a somewhat higher (TBD) price. We are taking pre-orders for May Tupelo honey in the forum as well. If you are looking for NSF restaurant grade food containers, we spotted some good ones at SAMS. These are for liquid storage in a 3-pack, 4-qt for $9.95 and 6-qt for $12.95.
