Dear Symbiota community,

Please join us for the next meeting of the Symbiota Support Group on Monday, August 12th at 12p Pacific / 3p Eastern. This month's topic will be Symbiota 3.1: Orientation to Upcoming Changes in Symbiota Portals.

Note that this meeting will be on second Monday of the month, rather than the first!

The Symbiota code is undergoing continued improvement and augmentation thanks to development funding from multiple grants. Because these developments are integrated into the central Symbiota code, all portals can benefit from these new features, bug fixes, and aesthetic changes by adopting the latest version of the Symbiota code. In this webinar, we will demonstrate the new tools and features available in this newest version, which will be implemented in Symbiota Support Hub-hosted portals in summer and fall 2024.

You can suggest ideas for future Support Group topics by adding to the list or contacting us. Previous Support Group topics and recordings can be found here.

The Symbiota Support Group is a monthly Zoom meeting hosted by the Symbiota Support Hub. During this time, we will demonstrate a Symbiota tool or functionality, and the SSH team will be available for open discussion, questions, comments, or troubleshooting.

All current and prospective Symbiota users are welcome to attend these monthly meetings. New users can subscribe to our meeting reminders here.

We need Ecdysis back up.  We have a team trying to database insects and the server is down?
Please check on it asap.
Thanks,

Hi Chuck,

Thanks for reaching out. The Symbiota Support Hub is working to mitigate a temporary portal outage due to a recently identified security issue. If you did not receive the communication about it (which just went out), please let me know. I will share that same message with the Ecdysis Google Group momentarily.

Best,

Lindsay

Ecdysis is working again.  However, I seem to be no longer able to access SCAN-Bugs anymore. Has the url for the portal changed?

Hi all!

Thank you for your patience and support during the recent outage! Ecdysis is now available but it might still time out temporarily (especially if you are performing complex tasks).

This is one of the latest updates made by the Symbiota Support Hub (please check your spam folder if you are not receiving them):
  • Because the servers hosting the portals are new, there will be a tuning period during which you may experience performance issues. If you experience a webpage timeout, please try again in a few minutes. If you experience this repeatedly, let us know at he...@symbiota.org.
Please note: the best way to report technical issues is by sending a message to he...@symbiota.org, so the SSH can get the information.

Regarding SCAN, I recommend reaching out to the portal managers to get more information.

Best,

Samanta
