Sunday, January 4, 2 to 5 p.m. (beginner session at 1:30)
St. John's Episcopal Church, 146 First St., Troy , NY
Hello Dance Friends,
We're in the midst of holiday time, but soon life will get back to normal, and the Capital English Country Dancers will be holding our first dance of 2026. One of the best antidotes to winter is music and dance, so we hope you will join us this Sunday to shoo the cold winter away.
We will be guided by caller par excellence Orly Krasner (see her list of dances below). For music, we will be treated to the delightful playing of Jean Monroe and Eleanor Lincoln. Check out all their bios below. They're some of the best talent around!
The forecast for Sunday looks good and the church parking lot will be clear. Looking forward to dancing with you!
Orly Krasner
Orly loves to share the joy of English Country Dance. As a teacher, she is a regular in New York City and Westchester and has taught all over the US, in the UK and way off in Japan! Orly has
published her first book of dances along with a CD, and she is working on a second. She continues to challenge herself as a dancer, studying traditional Japanese dance as well as Baroque dance. (She loves the minuet!) In real life, Orly teaches in the music department at the City College of New York.
Jean Monroe
Jean is an accomplished historical dance pianist who has performed a great variety of styles from English Country Dance, Contra, Colonial, Regency, Civil War, late-Victorian, Ragtime and even Sci-fi/steampunk. Her festival performances include Dance Flurry 2019, Pinewoods 2017 and other folk events from New Hampshire to Philadelphia. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from Yale and is well-known in New England as a music event organizer and emcee. Jean comes to us from Maynard, MA.
