Hello Dance Friends,

Capital English Country Dancers is holding its holiday dance this Sunday. We hope you can join us. We will be treated to the calling of Imogen Mills from Southern, Vt. and to the music of a local band, well almost local - Vonnie Estes from Easton, Charles Fisher from the Capital District and Nancy Bakemeier from Chestertown. This is Imogen's first time calling for us, and she has put together a fun program (see video links below). It looks like the roads will be clear, as will the parking lot at John's, so hop in your "sled" and come on over. If you feel inclined, wear some festive garb and bring along a treat to share.

Looking forward to dancing with you!

Imogen Mills
Imogen is an English and family dance caller from Southern, VT. Originally from NJ, she began dancing as a child and grew up in the folk dancing community. Her goal as a caller is to bring playfulness and thoughtfulness to the dance floor.

Vonnie Estes
Vonnie has played keyboard for traditional dance of various sorts since the mid-1980s. She often performs with her husband, John Guay, at local and Quebecois festivals, dances and concerts. Vonnie was the primary pianist with Heartsease Band, our in-house band for many years.

Charles Fisher
Charles has loved music since a kid. His musical background is eclectic, ranging from classical to jazz to traditional. He has played a wide range of instruments, including flute and oboe, with a variety of groups from marching band, to orchestra and more recently, to contra and English dance bands. He enjoys English Country dance music because of its similarity to the classical music he's played for years.

Nancy Bakemeier
Nancy began playing classical violin in elementary school and continued into college. Following a hiatus as a US naval officer, she became an active member of the Susquehanna Folk Music and Fiddlers Society in Pennsylvania and played at numerous festivals and events. For some fifteen years, since moving to the Adirondacks, she has played for dances and events in upstate New York and northern Vermont.
