Dear ECDA Members,
As I previously relayed to you, our own Dr. Beth Farokhi passed away on June 22. Her memorial service was this last Saturday at the Ebeneezer Baptist Church.
Dr. Farokhi asked me to extend his thanks for the many cards, letters, food, visits, prayers, and kindnesses everyone offered during Beth’s illness. They brought great comfort to her and the family during her last days and were greatly appreciated.
Thank you also to those who attended Beth’s memorial service; it meant a lot to the entire family. In her final days, Beth asked that this service be a celebration of her life emphasizing unity, diversity, and integrity. It was a fitting tribute to Beth who touched so many lives and worked with grace, kindness, and selflessness to make the world a better place. We hope that others will be inspired by her example and carry on her good work with that same spirit.
If you would like to make a contribution in honor of Beth, two funds have been established: The Beth Farokhi Ovarian Cancer Education and Research Fund and the Dr. Beth Farokhi Annual Scholarship Fund at Morris Brown College. You can also donate to the American Association of University Women Legal Advocacy Fund that fights sex discrimination.
