B6 - The existing item is allowed to be used as part of the team-created

materials cost form.

B6: The existing item must function as it is intended when manufactured
during the required demonstration. It may have cosmetic changes but no
changes are allowed that effect its functional operation. If cosmetic
changes are applied, the item and its changes must count toward cost and
be listed on the cost form. If the device is unchanged from its
original manufactured condition, it is exempt from cost unless it is
used in the performance beyond the required demonstration described in
B6b.

B8: The demonstration of the existing item must take place live during
the performance. Prerecorded demonstrations are not allowed. For
example; if the team selects a comb it is not allowed to show a
recording of a comb being used. The team must use the comb as it was
designed to be used during the performance time.
