From our friends at JEM...

---------- Forwarded message ----------

Dear Friend of Jubilee Economics Ministries,

JEM is pleased to invite you to join us on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to hear Frances Moore-Lappe and Matthew Fox. George Johnson, coordinator of this event, is a great JEM friend (please see his email below for more information).  He plans this conference out of his commitment to systemic change.

Both Moore-Lappe and Fox speak and write of what the changes we need look like and how we can encourage one another on the way. They will be speaking at St. Paul Cathedral (Episcopal) in San Diego, kicking off a conference which then moves to Tijuana. It's a great way for us to internalize more of Dr. King's convictions on the day our country commemorates him.

Christmas greetings...

Am I crazy or what. No one reads emails this late in Dec. But if you delete this one it will be your loss.

We have a Monday Only Option at our Developing Hearts that Yearn for Justice conference this January. On Monday starting at 1 p.m. Matthew Fox (radical priest to some) and Frances Moore Lappe (strong activist for democracy and justice) will speak at St Paul's Cathedral in San Diego. It should be a great way to celebrate the Martin Luther King holiday.

Our theme this year is:
Justice for Women and Children. So if you can't come for the whole event, Jan. 18-21, be sure to clear your calendar for Jan. 18 in the afternoon. Check our web site: hearts4justice.org

Please pass this information along to others who might be interested...or put it in your newsletter or class announcements. Justice for women and children is one of they key social justice issues for the next years. So best we get informed and become advocates.

Have a meaningful Christmas.
