Wayne Cornelius, director of UCSD's Center for Comparative Immigration Studies and the nation's premier academic expert on Mexico-U.S. migration, will be coming to St Paul's Cathedral on Sunday, November 22 to present a forum on his new book, Mexican Migration and the U.S. Economic Crisis.

He'll have titles from his back list available for sale, including the excellent Impacts of Border Enforcement on Mexican Migration. This is a vital resource in our effort toward a more humane border policy, especially at Friendship Park.

The forum takes place at 9 am in the cathedral's Guild Room, off the 6th Avenue Courtyard.

Wayne Cornelius:
"Mexican Migration and the U.S. Economic Crisis: A Transnational Perspective"

Dr. Wayne Cornelius
Dr. Wayne Cornelius, a leading authority on Mexican migration to the United States and an active Episcopalian, will preview his latest book.  Based on more than 1000 interviews with migrants on both sides of the border, this book is the first fieldwork-based study of how the U.S. economic crisis has affected flows of Mexican migrants to and from the United States. Cornelius and his team studied how migrants and their family members in Mexico are coping with the economic crisis, how the lack of jobs in the U.S. together with tougher border enforcement are affecting decisions to migrate or settle in the U.S., and whether workplace raids and other forms of enforcement are inducing migrants already in the United States to go home. Professor Cornelius will discuss the implications of his findings for U.S. immigration reform.
9 am Sunday Nov 22, Guild Room
St Paul's Episcopal Cathedral
2728 Sixth Avenue (between Olive & Nutmeg, across from Balboa Park)
